Dear Friends,
Thanks to your continued support, the Jack Brewer Foundation continues to make an impact in the lives of many. Our behavioral health program is continuing to expand its outreach to serve more high-acuity youth, both in and out of juvenile detention centers.
Our 2nd Chance fathers are supporting this program expansion by advocating for the fatherless youth in our communities who need strong male role models who understand where they’ve been and how to turn their lives around.
We love seeing the progress everyone is making and can’t wait to see what’s next!
March has been full of big wins. Our team recently completed our ninth trip to Jamaica, where we have built four houses and helped hundreds of people feel the love of Christ as they continue rebuilding their lives.
Early in the month, I was able to speak at the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice about the work that the JBF has been doing. I can’t wait to share more about the impact of that meeting soon.
But the biggest and most substantial successes this March have come from our youth. Two stories are still making me celebrate and give God all the glory.
First, we got to help an 18-year-old young man who spent a long time inside the juvenile detention system and later became homeless. We never knew what our role would look like in his life, but God allowed us to provide for him an independent living environment with the Jack Brewer Foundation.
This young man has no family and has lived a life full of turmoil, but now he has the support and mentorship of our 2nd Chance fathers, alongside a warm home, a comfortable bed, clean clothes, and three meals a day. We are honored to journey with him as he makes good choices and creates a beautiful life for himself.
Second, we saw an actual miracle inside a courtroom. A youthful offender that I’ve gotten to know has seen so much loss in recent years, including his mother dying of cancer, his toddler brother passing away, and his older brother being shot in their front yard. He has known nothing but violence, crime, and heartbreak.
This young man and I grew close during his time in the juvenile detention center, sharing our love for reading the Bible and boxing. I told him many times how I wanted to sponsor him to be in the boxing ring one day, yet he was on trial for attempted murder, possibly facing a life sentence.
One of our 2nd Chance fathers, Ivan Blanco, who had been in his shoes, spoke on his behalf and shared his own story of being imprisoned at age 15 and serving 15 years. When I walked into the courtroom today, I never expected the outcome: that this young man was coming home.
Not only that, but he was given permission to participate in the JBF’s youthful offender program, where he will get character-based instruction that focuses on leadership, dependability, accountability, and positive decision-making. He will have access to weekly mentorship to strengthen behavioral health awareness and build the skills necessary for long-term success.
And if all of that wasn’t enough, this young man is also getting to train to box. He is hard at work, punching the bag, jumping rope, and taking his first step toward becoming a future boxing champion.
To God be the glory!
The Jack Brewer Behavioral Health program (JBBH) provides both in-person and virtual support to high-acuity youth in communities across Florida. This is not only about meeting the physical needs of these young kids, but it’s also about bringing them support, encouragement, and mentorship that they desperately need.
It’s about walking alongside them and reminding them that they are worthy of good things and that we believe in them. Many of these kids are fatherless, and some have no support system whatsoever. We are so grateful for the community partners who journey with us to help these youth get a fresh start at achieving success and freedom.
The Jack Brewer Foundation has story after story of the positive outcomes from our programs. We have seen fathers set free and return to their families as moral men with a heart for Jesus and their children. We have seen at-risk youth change the trajectory of their lives through mentorship and one-on-one coaching. We have seen chains broken, sin defeated, and victory achieved through our programs and through the healing power of Jesus.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of our community partners, donors, and supporters. We love walking alongside our partners to bring hope, healing, and a bright future to the men and youth in our programs, and we love sharing the stories of success that we get to see on a daily basis.
Countless individuals are impacted by the criminal justice system. While the system can help a lot of people, sometimes more intervention is needed than what is currently available or even feasible.
The Jack Brewer Foundation is fully committed to bridging the gap between what’s available and what’s possible. We believe that change and growth start in the heart, and we believe that Jesus is the key to making those changes impactful and long-lasting.
The foundation of our programs is the Good News of the gospel, and we pair that with mentorship, physical training, emotional support, and effective mentorship to help people make necessary changes and meet personal goals.
The end result is healthier people, both physically and emotionally, and stronger families. That sets us up for future generations to be better off from the start so that we can break generational cycles and change the world for the better.
We look forward to connecting with you each month and sharing our field debrief. Our gratitude overflows when we get to pass along the good work that is being done because of your partnership. If you want to see or hear anything specific from our team moving forward, please hit reply and let us know.
In the meantime, stay connected with us!
